In Tiverton, Rhode Island, a woman faces felony animal cruelty charges after two dogs were discovered severely neglected and starving outside of her home. On Friday, Amanda Medeiros, 30, was charged with three counts of animal cruelty.

According to the Rhode Island Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA), Medeiros has been charged with one count of unnecessary cruelty to animals and two counts of failing to provide adequate veterinary care. Two dogs were seized by the organization and transported to an emergency veterinary facility.

One dog is an eight-year-old male, named Remy who was found to be emaciated and in extremely poor body condition; his ribs prominent and absent muscle mass. The other dog, a five-year-old female named Beni was undernourished and has a large tumor on her rear hind quarter. Both dogs’ nails were extremely overgrown.
