In the San Pedro area of California, a police officer had been walking through an encampment at the end of his shift on Saturday when he met a starving and injured pooch. Officer Slo Ferara, a senior lead officer at LAPD Harbor Community Police Station, had just ended his shift when he spotted Bagels.
“The local homeless peeps told me he was ran over twice, had a brick thrown at his face which broke his teeth and gave him a swollen right side of his face. Even though Bagels had endured a life of tragedies his tail kept wagging in hope…”, Slo wrote on his Facebook page.
And so the compassionate officer scooped the dog up into his arms and brought him to the Harbor Animal Shelter.
After arriving at the shelter, Bagels was given a medicated bath, food, water and of course some love; volunteers describe him as gentle and very affectionate. He will be available for adoption on September 15. Reference A195046.
Many thanks to the officer for going out of his way and caring for those who cannot speak.
