Nala, a lovable German Shepherd, performed a daring escape attempt at the Greenville Humane Society in South Carolina on Sunday night. Unlike most shelter posts that showcase a pet’s best angles, Nala’s story highlights her adventurous spirit and need for a calmer environment.
The shelter described and pictured Nala scaling her kennel, somehow maneuvering through the covered top. Unfortunately, she didn’t quite master the descent and needed staff assistance. This incident revealed Nala’s discomfort in the loud, crowded kennel.
once we got her down, we took her out of the kennel and into a staff office. she’s better now. She just wants to be with people.

The shelter staff paints a picture of a gentle soul who prefers the company of humans to the constant barking of other dogs. They described her love for playing in water, car rides, and cuddly toys. Nala is a quick learner, perfecting her leash manners and showing good socialization skills during playtime.
Nala’s current situation is stressful, and the shelter believes she’s in constant “fight or flight” mode. To help her feel safe and flourish, they were actively seeking a social foster home. This would provide Nala with a calm environment and companionship to ease her anxieties.
And now the good news! Nala is currently in a foster home where she is doing much better.
