In Sand Lake, Michigan reports about a dog desperately barking for days alerted Animal Control officers from the Kent County Animal Shelter to investigate the spot of an old grain elevator. One nearby resident had walked out to the area and believed a dog had been stuck under a silo.
According to the Kent County Animal Shelter, the officers arrived at the area where the dog had been heard barking and were met by two concerned citizens who spotted the dog stranded in an old bunker style silo. The sides of the silo consisted of 10-feet smooth walls; there had been no way for the dog to climb or jump out.
With the help of kind hearted neighbors, a long rope was able to be looped around the dog, and he was quickly pulled out from the bottom of the silo to safety.
And now the story of this pup’s rescue gets even better.
“…we do know he survived frigid temps, snow storms, hunger and dehydration. He lost 33lbs and traveled nearly 20 miles over the past 43 days . What he nor his owners never lost was hope and hope is what finally reunited them.”
