In the Rio Grand Valley of Texas, three newborn kittens with their umbilical cords still attached, became orphans on Tuesday after their mother was run over and killed by a car.
As resources in South Texas are limited, local animal shelters would have to euthanize the kittens – yes, before they ever had the chance even to open their eyes to see a little bit of the world they were born into less than a day ago. None of the cat rescues in the Rio Grand Valley would step up to save the kittens.
Fortunately, volunteers from Dallas Dog Rescue.Rehab.Reform were willing to try and Animal Control in the area were contacted. The kittens’ prognoses are currently touch and go; they are very fragile and had been without their mother for more than 24-hours.
