55+ days at Texas shelter wearing on sweet but shy dog ‘Hazel’

Admin

More than 55 days have passed since Hazel was brought to Fort Worth Animal Care & Control. Hazel wasn’t always this depressed, but watching the other dogs gleefully leaving their shelter cages – wagging their tails and greeting their new families, has undoubtedly weighed heavily on this sweet girl.

Her kennel tech says:

“Sweet dog. Shy when you first bring her outside, but warms up and becomes more active when she adjusts. A bit jumpy, but not overly. Loves to be petted.”

Hazel was originally picked up as a stray in 2019, returned to her owner, and then picked up as a stray again in February, 2021. The owner didn’t reclaim her this time. And so Hazel waits for the unintended consequences of an owner who just didn’t care enough to work with their dog and help her become a model citizen and not wander away from home.

Please share Hazel’s plight with approved rescue organizations, friends, family and social media contents. Sharing saves lives. Surely Hazel deserves better.
