In Cornelius, North Carolina, Forgotten. Now Family Rescue, a dedicated non-profit focused on rescuing abandoned and neglected dogs, is making waves in the Charlotte community. This 100% women-founded organization is on a mission to not only find loving homes for these deserving pups, but also to educate the public about responsible pet ownership.

On Monday, during a welfare check at an elderly man’s home, the ambulance arrived and at the same time, called for animal control assistance. The officer works closely with Forgotten. Now Family Rescue and advised them three dogs needed emergency help or they likely would not survive.
The dogs were immediately transported to Best Care Animal Hospital where all three of the dogs are currently being cared for; at this time they are stable pending further tests.
…I was so angry – then tears would start to fall. The officer explained to me the wife was the caregiver of the dogs, and she passed years ago. The man trying to care for them was in his late 80s and could hardly move. he was devastated he hurt the dogs and failed his wife’s final wishes.

Tragically, this situation could have been avoided, but society failed both the elderly man and his three dogs.
I asked the dogs get top care and the man be treated with kindness . I haven’t figured out how I can help everyone here but I know our family will try. The dogs have been legally surrendered to us and we will pour our hearts into their recovery. I hope we can get them healthy and bring him photos to show him the wrong is being made right one step at a time and he’s cared for too. I’m struggling with all the mixed emotions for the situation, and you may too.. it’s ok. We just show up and keep trying every single day to make it better.
