So heartbreaking: 2 year old Chihuahua abandoned in front of shelter wearing pain patch and crying

Admin

Urgent rescue help is needed by Wednesday afternoon, March 20 in West Palm Beach, Florida for a tiny Chihuahua dubbed Yellow who was abandoned by his owner in a suspected heartless act of neglect and cruelty. The dog was discovered by a Good Samaritan across the street from the shelter walking around.

This pup is a 2-year-old, male Chihuahua that was found last night walking on Westchester Drive in West Palm Beach. He was wearing a blue recovery jacket when a Good Samaritan picked him up, leading our vets to believe that he recently had surgery. He also has a patch on his skin with a note written not to remove it. The person who found the pup said he appeared fine last night, but when he woke up this morning he began screaming in pain. The poor guy was screaming when he was brought in to us as well.

The pup was taken to the rescue person’s home and had been wearing a surgery onesie as well as a patch on his back that said not to touch unless removed by a veterinarian. He also had a note on him stating he had just been out of surgery that morning. By the next morning, the puppy awoke screaming in pain.

The pup was brought to the shelter where pain medication was given, but they are not strong enough and are sadly accompanied by occasional loud crying spells. He has been transferred to the veterinarian hospital where he was scanned for a microchip; nothing was found and he is currently on stray hold until March 24. (His advanced pain and physical condition could call for humane euthanasia.)

Per the veterinarian diagnosis, the dog is suspected to have an “IV disc issue.”

Radiographs showed he had mineralization in his bladder and possible hind end weakness, however they couldn’t rule out if it was just from the pain or not. The vet noted there were no incisions or wounds to indicate a surgery took place recently.

Sadly, the dog is in pain causing him to try and bite whenever anyone touches him. Because of his condition, and the lack of specialized medical care available at the shelter, this little guy must leave the shelter by the end of today. Please share his plight with approved rescue organizations, friends, family and social media contacts. Sharing saves lives.
