Four-month-old puppy hit by car ‘head on’ has ongoing efforts for surgical care

Admin

Summer is a four-month-old puppy who was hit by a car “head on.” She sustained serious injuries and has been hospitalized for the last week and has since undergone surgery to repair her fractured pelvis.

Summer was found lying on the side of the road waiting for someone to help her. The blood on her face had already dried, and it is not known how long she had been suffering. The animal welfare organization, ThisIsHouston came to her aid.
“With all the head trauma, she’s understandably ‘not all there.’ There’s so much trauma that she currently cannot walk or stand on all 4 limbs. She’s on pain meds and a medication to help reduce the pressure in her brain. The vet said typically, dogs with head trauma make huge improvements overnight.
In one week, Summer has made drastic improvements.  She is currently being treated at Texas A&M Small Animal Clinic. She previously had been under the care of Vergi 24/7 where she stayed hospitalized for three days and has an open bill. (Call 713-932-9589)
