Urgent rescue help was needed by this afternoon, March 20 in West Palm Beach, Florida for a tiny two-year-old Chihuahua dubbed Yellow who was abandoned by his owner in a suspected heartless act of neglect and cruelty. The dog was discovered by a Good Samaritan across the street from the shelter walking around.
Yellow had been wearing a surgery onesie as well as a patch on his back that said not to touch unless removed by a veterinarian. He also had a note on him stating he had just been out of surgery that morning. By the next morning, the puppy awoke screaming in pain.
The pup was brought to the shelter where pain medication was administered, but the pain did not subside. The dog continued to cry in pain; he was transferred to the veterinarian hospital associated with the Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control. Yellow would need emergency surgery if he was to survive. Pleas went out for help.
Fortunately, it was Big Dog Ranch who stepped in to rescue Yellow. Their rescue team arrived at Veterinary Emergency Group earlier this afternoon and transferred him to Dr. Nye at VCA Palm Beach Veterinarian Specialists. When examined, Yellow had been in excruciating pain, and the MRI revealed the dog had an injured disc requiring emergency lifesaving surgery.
Contrary to the note that stated Yellow had just had surgery, there had been no incisions. He was not microchipped, however his former owners have since been found. An investigation is ongoing.

Successful surgery will give Yellow the ability to walk again. Surgery is very costly, and the organization is asking for donations to help.
