Bull that escaped from slaughter house two months ago finally captured and headed to sanctuary

Admin

Outlaw Barnie the bull was safely captured on Wednesday by Skylands Animal Sanctuary & Rescue founder, Mike Stura. Barnie had been running free in the Moriches/Mastic area of New York since escaping from a slaughter house on July 20, 2021.

According to the Suffolk County SPCA, Stura had set up a corral as well as a feeder to lure Barnie to a set location. With the help and assistance of Chief Roy Gross, the Suffolk County Police Department and Suffolk County Police Aviation who made all department resources available including warning area drivers and residents to use caution, Barnie gets to live out his life in peace and safety.

Barnie will be heading to the Skylands Animal Sanctuary & Rescue located in Wantage, New Jersey, a 232 acre farm caring for many rescued and abused animals. Barnie is being examined by a veterinarian before he gets to make friends with other lucky rescued ones.

What a great job of collaboration by everyone who wanted Barnie safely captured. Many thanks to our unsung heroes who work tirelessly for the benefit of our animal friends.

“He has no clue how lucky he is … thank you so much!”
