Just one week ago, a Good Samaritan found a three-month-old puppy trying to survive by eating trash around a cemetery. The kind person scooped her up and brought her to the Humane Society of Tampa Bay where the shelter staff discovered the puppy had a metal chain embedded in her neck. They named her Sage.
Veterinarians stated the puppy had been in intense pain, but there she was wagging in tail while being examined. Emergency surgery was performed to save her life and remove the embedded chain.
And then came Marvel actor and former WWE wrestler Dave Bautista with a kind heart as big as his starring role Drax the Destroyer in the “Guardians of the Galaxy” and the “Avengers.” When he saw the post about the puppy on social media, he shared it to help Sage find a home and from there the puppy’s story went viral.
Battista was so upset by the cruelty inflicted upon the innocent puppy, he offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for Sage’s neglect, and later raised the reward to $11,500 which included reward money offered from others.
Many offers to adopt came in from across the country, but Battista decided he wanted to give the adorable puppy a loving home.
Sage, now known as Penny, now has her very own superhero and will never know pain/suffering ever again.

Battista has adopted two dogs in the past citing he needed them and they needed him. Penny will now join Maggie and Ollie – two other pitties who get to sleep on Tempurpedic dog beds, enjoy a huge gated property and where there are “doggy doors everywhere.”
