At 14 years of age, a sweet dog named Jenny lost everything that she knew when her family handed her over to a busy New York City animal control agency. On Wednesday afternoon, the Dogs Lives Matter – Saving NYC Dogs Facebook page issued a plea for a “fospice” or adoptive home for the elderly dog, writing:
When you spend 13 years with your family, you expect your family to stand by you when you are in the winter of your life. You expect them to care for you, love you, bring you to the vet and make sure you are healthy, especially when they say you occasionally have seizures! But instead, JENNY’S family decided to just dump her at the shelter and walk out of her life.
Jenny is described as “shy, gentle, waggy and sweet,” and though she is trying to be brave, she is justifiably confused about what has happened to the people and places that were once familiar. The page posted:
Friendly and a bit shy when meeting new people, her favorite thing is sleeping on the sofa. She has a stellar resume of skills, and if she is having “bathroom issues” it is entirely due to either the indifference of her family in making sure she gets out every day for bathroom breaks, or she needs veterinary care to see if she has a medical issue that causes her “accidents.” We just adore this fluffy elderly lady and want her to find the most loving retirement home she can, with a family who will care for her and support her, and give her all the happiness her heart can hold.
Will you give this gentle girl her holiday wish? Please send an email to: [email protected] for assistance fospicing or adopting Jenny.
