On Monday, the Kentucky Humane Society received a dog in horrific condition after a local Uber driver spotted the dog’s seemingly lifeless body on the side of the road. When discovered, the barely alive pup was covered in his own urine and feces, maggots and open infected pressure sores were over his thin body.
Named Travolta, the dog was immediately treated by veterinarians, repeatedly bathed, shaved and the wounds beneath his matted coat treated. No doubt that Travolta has been enjoying the attention and has bonded with Dr. Bewley. And despite all that Travolta has been through, he still wags his tail and dishes out a few slobbery kisses.
On Wednesday, Travolta was still too weak to stand without someone holding him up, but the determined pooch continued to receive intravenous fluids, small meals every few hours, antibiotics and special ointment to treat his infected wounds. Just one day later, however Travolta has met the challenge.
We wanted to let everyone know he is doing well this morning and can officially stand up on his own! He was able to eat standing too and we’re so proud!
