In Utica, New York, the Anita’s Stevens Swan Humane Society’s promise to Nelson is to love him unconditionally until someone finds it in their heart to adopt him. Our hearts have collectively broken watching and listening to Nelson’s plaintive cries just wanting what every dog wants – to be home and loved.

According to the shelter, Nelson has been searching for the right home for nearly 500 days. Why he hasn’t found his person, or rather why his person has not found Nelson is puzzling. After all, Nelson loves people, gets along with other dogs, loves children and promises to be the best he can be, if someone chooses him to become part of their family. (Please no cats for Nelson)
