Less than one week ago, a Good Samaritan spotted a bedraggled Great Pyrenees get side swiped by a truck on a busy highway in the suburbs of Dallas. The kind woman pulled over to help and tried to rescue the dog, but with nothing to lure the dog over to her, any chances of rescue efforts would have been in vain. Besides, the oncoming traffic was so close to the dog, it would have caused a dangerous additional hazard for the dog, the motorists driving by and the would be rescuer.
The rescuer reluctantly drove on to work, but couldn’t get the dog’s plight out of her mind, especially as temperatures plummeted to the teens. And so the next day, armed with a blanket, leash and cookies, the woman returned to the exact area and searched for the dog in an empty horse pasture nearby.
There she found him, curled in a ball, shaking from the cold. He gently accepted cookies and pets and as the sun began to set, she placed a leash around his neck and together they turned the page and a new chapter in his life began.

He is now in the care of Dallas Dog – Rescue.Rehab.Reform and has been named Denali – The Great One. We can all watch this boy’s transformation together, and we are all excited to see his progress.
