Amos arrived at an overcrowded shelter in horrific condition on Monday. The senior boxer would have had no hope had the shelter not reached out to the Kentucky Humane Society asking if they would take him in and provide him with the help he so desperately needs.
Amos weighs just 38 pounds and should weigh in the neighborhood of 60 to 70 pounds. The veterinary team immediately formulated an eating plan and began to give Amos small meals which he happily ate; then started him on intravenous fluids to aid with his hydration. He’s an older guy, and the hospital will be running more tests to determine if his emaciated body condition is due to neglect or a medical condition preventing him from gaining weight.
This senior is in good spirits and is enjoying the attention and pampering. Another life has been saved because kind people care.
Please keep Amos in your thoughts and prayers as we work to determine what is going on with this sweet boy. As always, donations in honor of Amos are gratefully accepted through Facebook or online at www.kyhumane.org/donate. As always, thank you so much for your support and compassion! We will keep you updated on Amos as we learn more.
