Hundreds of dogs and puppies have been saved from terrible conditions on a property in Williamsburg, Kentucky. As reported by Fox 19 News, multiple rescue agencies came together to help the dogs who were in the care of a hoarder.
On Saturday, the Guardians of Rescue stated:
The dogs are living in conditions which are hazardous to health; many are suffering from untreated mange and other advanced ailments. They are being signed over to us, and our team is currently working to get everyone safe and assessed.
Conditions at the property were so dismal that rescuers had to don hazmat suits to safely remove the dogs. Margaret Coplen, with All Dogs Come From Heaven, told the news agency:
Dogs living outside in extreme filth, and the family was not only hoarding animals but hoarding items as well. Hundreds of hundreds of bags of garbage outside the building.”
Dogs rescued from the property are suffering from a multitude of maladies, including mange, kennel cough, and the deadly parvovirus. Rescuers believe that the people who owned the dogs had good intentions that went awry. It is unclear if anyone will face charges.
Multiple agencies have stepped up to assist with the dogs and puppies, including: Guardians of Rescue, Furgotten Dog Rescue, All Dogs Come From Heaven Rescue, Cabin Critters Rescue, Hope Fur Paws Rescue, Deb’s Dogs, All Starr Pet Rescue, Lucky Tales Rescue, and Adoption First Animal Rescue KY
