An Arizona rescue group is hoping to find the person who abandoned an immobile, senior dog along a rural road in Buckeye. The ailing boxer was found by a good Samaritan on the evening of March 22. Boxer Luv Rescue writes:
Recognize this senior boy? Know who may have owned him? We sure would like to know.
Immobile, in pain and set on the side of a very rural, Buckeye road on the evening of 3/22/22. He was seen by a good Samaritan who stopped and alerted Phoenix area rescuers. Those rescuers/ networkers sounded the alarm. He was quickly picked up and safely secured for the night.
The dog, dubbed Roxy, was sent to a veterinary hospital where he was diagnosed with two different cancers, in addition to arthritis in his back. The rescue group said:
He is as sweet as they come. Someone had treated him well at some point in life BUT, it appears – we have no proof but, he just endured the ultimate betrayal – abandonment and left to the elements (weather, wildlife, etc) in a remote area with no way to move around on his own or protect himself.
Tragically, the cancers that Roxy had were too advanced for him to be saved, and the decision was made to release him from his body. On Sunday morning, the rescue group broke the news to Facebook followers, writing:
There was nothing we could do other than make sure he left on a good day with people who loved him around him… Frosted chocolate cupcakes were in order too (see the pink around his nose? Frosting – LOL… Oh he loved those cupcakes)!
He was surrounded by three people who came to love him, quickly and deeply, when we sent him off. We are SO, so thankful he was found and secured.
Roxy’s abandonment was reported to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Department and the rescue group is still hopeful that someone will come forward with information about the dog’s owner.
He was found near Lower Buckeye Road/ 85 and Connector Road. Look familiar? Please get in touch with us, via email, at [email protected]
