Ukrainian soldiers rescued an abandoned dog in an area that was reclaimed from Russian forces. The soldiers found the black, shaggy-hair pooch in an apartment building while inspecting abandoned homes on the frontline near Ukraine’s capital of Kyiv, the BBC reported. When the soldier played a toy music box, the dog came out to meet him happily wagging his tail seemingly glad for someone coming to help him.
The soldier and the dog, named Bavaria made an immediate connection and the soldier led the dog out of the home. They hope to return him to his family.
Meanwhile he is being cared for by a woman who has been fostering lost and abandoned pets.
The Ukrainians have been reported to have recaptured the areas however most of the villages have been abandoned. Despite the latest promise by President Putin to scale down military operations, the missiles and shelling along the northern area of Chernihiv continued.
