Help emergency at Berkeley Animal Center highlights critical need for foster homes and adoptions

Admin

At the Berkeley Animal Center in Moncks Corner, South Carolina, there is a critical need for foster home parents and/or adoptions. On Friday, volunteer and pet photographer Jeanne Taylor posted a photo highlighting the plight of a terrified young mother dog and her two puppies. The heartbreaking photo had been taken by a friend who couldn’t walk away from a family in such dire need of help.

When I post that the shelter is in dire need of fosters, I’m not exaggerating. While I was away, my friend Molly sent me this image of her recent bring-home, a mother dog and two puppies, terrified and shut-down in the shelter. And the shelter is NO PLACE for young puppies, so Molly did as she often does and stepped by to foster.

In addition to the mom and her two puppies, Molly also brought home a seven-month-old dog. And this is a huge animal advocate who has a family business, two school aged children with lots of after school activities and three very friendly dogs of her own, who still found the time and the compassion to help.

The Berkeley Animal Center needs your help. If warm-hearted people like Molly didn’t step up to help, some of the dogs and cats might never have made it out of the shelter by the front door. The shelter will provide everything needed to achieve a successful outcome from crates, food, vet care, bedding, toys, etc. Most fosters are short term to help the animals adjust to their new lives. If you have extra space and pet friendly dogs and cats in your own home, you can become a foster parent.

Please note that the mother and her two puppies are safe, but the shelter is now over capacity. They sure could use your help. Click here for more information.
