Florida – A 13-year-old German shepherd mix named Scooby was surrendered to the Orange County Animal Services facility in early June and he is their oldest resident. Sadly, because of his age, Scooby has been ignored by potential adopters and he is growing increasingly depressed and frustrated at the shelter facility.
In a social media post, the shelter explains:
Scooby has already started showing signs of frustration. When he was first surrendered, he loved every dog and every one he met. As time passes, he’s become less tolerant of other dogs and shy around certain people. It’s almost as if Scooby knows that time isn’t on his side.
Describing his lonely existence:
Scooby sits alone in his kennel, day after day, while younger dogs get adopted. And the longer he stays here, the harder it will be for him to get adopted.
Scooby is a staff favorite and he gets moments of reprieve from the noisy kennel runs in their offices. They write:
He nuzzles for attention, leans in for affection and for treats, he will do just about anything. But mostly he wants the peace and quiet that comes with time away from the kennel bars. From the loud barking, from people walking past him without a second glance. And once he’s found the peace and quiet of our office space, he closes his eyes and surrenders to sleep.
Scooby needs out of the shelter. Will you please help make that happen by sharing his adoption information? Time is not on his side.
