On Thursday afternoon, a very skinny and weak dog who had taken refuge in a backyard in a nearby residential neighborhood was discovered. The homeowners had no idea how long she had been there huddled in a corner. Stray Rescue of St. Louis was called and asked to help.
And thus started a new life for “Annie McHound.”
According to the rescue organization, Annie’s first stop was to their partner veterinarian, and once she arrived, it was no doubt time for a bath. At first glance, rescuers thought she had been covered with motor oil, but after her physical examination, it was determined she actually had dried blood all over her from her extensive flea infestation.
Check out her first bath: Oh, how Annie must have felt. In addition, she was just so thirsty.

All the FLEAS coming off of her and dying now! She was just being eaten alive!
Feeling better:

She feels so much better already – to be free from this insane heat, free from being a host to blood sucking pests, free from loneliness, from thirst, and free from worry. She is very anemic so will be getting an emergency blood transfusion. Keep our Annie McHound in your prayers, we will keep you updated on this sweet, sweet baby girl
