A Chihuahua mix named Jonathan, probably has as many lives as a cat, and now he can add surviving an alligator who tried to eat him for a little snack.
About ten years ago, Jonathan was rescued by Amanda Klecker, 37, who travels the world with her little buddy. He lived in a shelter cage, rarely was taken out for walks because of overcrowding and had been scheduled for humane euthanasia because no one had adopted him; that is until Amanda spotted him.
That was then, and this is now. A recent trip to Florida, however brought an unexpected ordeal – one that soon will not be forgotten by either Amanda or Jonathan, after the two had been on a walk and on their way home were stalked by an alligator.

Jonathan is the world’s most well-traveled rescue dog, and a beautiful real life underdog- my intention in sharing his story is to eliminate negative stigma around shelter animals and show that no matter where you came from, you can create an amazing life for yourself.
Amanda
On this particular trip, Amanda and Jonathan had been in Orlando at her grandmother’s home in a golfing community when the two went on a stroll in the perfect Florida weather. The golf course had been under renovations, and the ponds were either drained or very low, which may have caused the unexpected gator’s appearance.
Amanda had just been crossing the street when a neighbor yelled out to her there was an alligator lying underneath Amanda’s rental vehicle parked in front of her grandmother’s home. Amanda immediately picked up Jonathan, but here’s where it gets a bit weird and of course, scary – the alligator followed the two to the house!
Super mommy rushed in, slammed the door, and that crazy gator walked around the house again before deciding to find another victim.
