Greenville, NC – The woman who abandoned a litter of young puppies in an empty lot has been arrested and charged with multiple counts of animal cruelty. The Greenville Police Department had issued a public plea for assistance after a good Samaritan found seven puppies in an empty lot in the area of Skinner/Myrtle Street.
According to the police, the public pressure led to 36-year-old Shaquta Laqure Armstead turning herself in; she is now facing seven counts of animal cruelty for abandoning the pups. Unfortunately, the authorities are still unsure where the mother of the puppies is.
The puppies will remain in the care of the Humane Society of Eastern Carolina until they are eventually available for adoption. Donations for their care can be made directly to the shelter’s website here.
