Andra hasn’t had much luck – that is until rescuers stepped forward on Wednesday to help her. The puppy was picked up by the Ruin Creek Animal Protection Society of Henderson, North Carolina. When found, her jaw had been hanging down, and she was not able to close her mouth. She likely had been hit by a car and needed immediate emergency veterinary care to save her life.
Fortunately, one of the shelter’s local rescue partners stepped forward to save her life. Andra was quickly transported to an emergency veterinarian. Her pain must have been excruciating, yet she remained sweet and friendly.
On Thursday, Andra underwent surgery. The bone in the left part of her jaw bone had to be removed. Her jaw will be shorter on the left side, but she likely will not have any complications although she may need some of her teeth extracted at a later time.
Meanwhile, Andra’s update has brought smiles to the faces of animal advocates. Another life saved because people care…
Andra has won over the hearts of the ER vet staff. She is doing well and had surgery this morning. This is what the rescue just sent us:
…They removed the bone in the left portion of her jaw bc the tissue was dead. So her jaw will be shorter on the left side. Otherwise, nothing unexpected. No TMJ trauma and no other major head or neck trauma, so that’s all good news. They said she’ll likely need some teeth extracted because of how the fracture went through them but that’s a wait and see thing. Feeding tube/tape muzzle for 2-3 weeks, and we’ll go from there as we see how she’s doing.
Thank you all for your prayers because this girl is truly a fighter and has the best chance now!
