A viral video of an adorable chihuahua mothering a baby squirrel has all of our hearts smiling with love. When the TikTok clip posted by @beckybeaverandfriends hit social media, we couldn’t miss Gracie, the chihuahua caring for an orphaned baby squirrel and caring for it just like a pro.

Needless to say there were lots of “oohs and aahs” at Gracie’s motherly instinct and her ability to help this poor little creature adjust to having lost its own mom. Of course, we can all wonder if the baby squirrel was indeed confused about the dog caring for it, but hey, there’s no mirrors, and we have all seen time and time again, different species caring for each other as if mirrors are not necessary. It’s just about love and being a mom.
Meanwhile Gracie loves her little pal, and what’s wrong with kindness? We just need more of it.
