Nye County, NV – Hundreds of dogs rescued from horrible conditions at a “breeding operation” in Nye County have a bright future thanks to a judge’s ruling this week. According to the Nye County Sheriff’s Office, a Fifth Judicial Court judge has given the authorities full authority over the fate of the more than 300 dogs who were rescued from the operation run by Oskana Higgins and Vasili Platunov.

On Wednesday, the sheriff’s office said:

We are grateful for the judges ruling which will ensure these animals never are returned to the life they were rescued from.
We will be transferring the animals to the ASPCA for continued much-needed medical and behavioral assessments and care so they can determine the best outcome for each of them.

According to the sheriff’s office, the dogs will be transported to a facility outside of Nevada for continued care and “behavioral support.” The agency thanked the animal welfare organization for stepping up to assist in the massive rescue effort, writing:

We cannot thank the ASPCA enough for stepping in and helping us with this large scale operation.
We also cannot thank the community enough for the immense support provided through this operation.
Sheriff Sharon Wehrly and her staff are amazed at the support received and are grateful for it.

Oskana Higgins and Vasili Platunov are facing felony animal cruelty and neglect charges.
