In Encinitas, California, a woman whose golden retriever was stolen from her yard allegedly by an Amazon deliver driver, has been reunited with her dog, Finn.
According to NBCNews, the dog’s owner Denise Reppenhagen warmly hugged Finn at their reunion which took place outside of a Petco store.
On October 9, 2022, Denise’s daughter had arrived at the home that morning and went inside – closing the garage door not realizing Finn was still outdoors. Minutes later, a video from a neighbor’s home showed Finn barking, and an Amazon delivery driver parked outside of the home. The neighbor’s security camera captured the driver dropping off a package.
The neighbor witnessed the Amazon driver arriving, delivering the package and then putting the dog in her car and driving away. So, then I checked my Amazon orders and I indeed had an order.
Before taking off, the driver seemed to look back toward the property. I was in complete disbelief. I couldn’t breathe. I literally couldn’t breathe.

San Diego County Sheriff’s Office reported that a viewer of the news coverage about Finn’s disappearance, recognized the driver. On October 29, the sheriff’s office served a search warrant on a home in San Diego. Dena Vindiola faces charges of grand theft and had been booked into the Vista Detention Facility
Vindiola, 36, was arrested and admitted stealing the dog, and after trying to give the dog away to her mother and a friend who didn’t want the pooch, surrendered Finn to an animal shelter. Shortly after that, the shelter notified Labrador Rescuers for help; the dog was then sent to a foster home where he was being cared for until he was reunited with his owner.
Fortunately, Finn did have a microchip which facilitated his return to his owner.
Welcome home Finn.
