A plane transporting dozens of dogs ready to be adopted crashed on a snowy golf course in Wisconsin; the miracle is that even though there were some injuries, all of the passengers and crew survived.
According to Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the plane crashed near the third hole of Western Lakes Golf Club as heavy snow had blanketed the area on Tuesday morning.
I was in a building up here and didn’t hear anything, but there was a couple employees working on the course that heard this plane coming down and witnessed it hitting the fifth green, crashing between two trees, (going) through a marsh and another 100 feet through the second hole fairway and onto the third hole, where it uprooted another tree and came to a rest.
Jason Hoelz general manager of golf course told MJS
The flight had been planned to bring at-risk adoptable dogs from southern shelters to the Humane Animal Welfare Society (HAWS). After the rescue, all of the dogs were triaged by veterinarians. Twenty-one dogs remain at HAW and many are now available for adoption. The other dogs have been transferred to area rescue organizations and will also be available for adoption.
A donation can help cover the unforeseen medical and other costs that resulted from this incident. All money donated through this fundraiser goes to HAWS.
The cause of the crash is unknown; the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating.
