Columbus, OH – Last week, when the Columbus Dog Connection was closed, someone abandoned a young dog outside in the cold. According to the animal welfare agency, it was just 28 degrees when the pup, dubbed Eddie, was left near the building.

The agency said:

This poor guy was abandoned after hours at our facility last week. The night he was abandoned, the temperature was 28 degrees!
When a staff member arrived early in the morning with her dogs in hand, he was sleeping at our warehouse door. He walked right up and was very friendly with her dogs. Once she stopped panicking about a strange dog being loose and was able to get inside, she realized how cold he was.

After viewing surveillance footage, staff could see that Eddie was dumped around 7 p.m. and he spent the night huddled near the building. A leash and blanket were found nearby from where he was abandoned.

But the days of being cast aside and left to fend for himself are over for Eddie. Eddie is currently in boarding and the rescue agency is hoping to find a foster home for him.

If you are interested in fostering Eddie, please email [email protected].
