During Gauge’s stay at the shelter, he was lucky enough to be invited to a foster home for a few weeks. Sadly, that foster home can no longer help, and this poor guy is again at risk of being euthanized due to crowding and his age. Please check out his story and share so that he may find a loving home.
12 years old but active
Treated for ear hematoma, medication needed
Super sweet, however definitely skeptical of individuals and dogs, he takes some time to warm up yo you
Super calm; he spends most of his time in the bed he picked out!
At the shelter he was terrified of the other dogs
Prefers a quiet, relaxing environment and spends most of his time sleeping, most likely catching up lost sleep at shelter
Super active and excited outside!
*Does not walk like a 12 year old dog*
Great on leash
Loves snacks! Food motivated!
No barking , any noises or difficulties with him.
Does have trouble going DOWN stairs, getting into sitting and laying position takes a tiny bit longer for him, probably arthritis but that can be helped with supplements
Shows curiosity with other dogs and cats (be careful however, he may get frightened) Will definitely be fine living with other dogs like him, older, less engaging, etc. regardless if shelter says he can or cannot be with other animals.
No accidents so far inside my apartment. Seems to pee only once or twice a day, even when given plenty of time to sniff the surrounding areas. Does not care for marking at all. Seems to poop on the cement, rather than grass.
.Please adopt Gauge. He is so sweet and old and just wants to live out his years resting and feeling loved. He’s a low maintenance dog that just needs an owner to love and take care of him. He began to wag his tail after being taken home; compared to the tucked tail he had all the time at the shelter. Will come up to you with his beautiful blue eyes and look up at you wanting to be scratched behind the ear or under the chin. 10/10 DOG. After a long life of uncertainty he deserves to feel safe and loved.
.If you’re in Florida and willing to foster him long term until he is adopted, please message me or Chelsea Palermo. And please share and pledge for him! He doesn’t deserve to spend his golden years sitting in that shelter!
