Rocky the collie was reunited with his family on Saturday after having been separated from his family for seven months. According to the Ocean County Health Department, Rocky had been among the 180 dogs and cats rescued from a home in Brick Town from an animal hoarding situation.
The family’s name has been withheld because of privacy reasons, but it was “a very special Christmas present” for them.
Two-year-old Rocky was excited to see his family for the first time when they arrived to reclaim their dog from the Northern Ocean County Animal Facility in Jackson. The family was emotional and so grateful Rocky was in overall good health and that their loving boy was coming back home – and just in time for the holidays!
Rocky spent the last two weeks under the care of the Ocean County Animal Facilities where he was cleaned and bathed and prepped for his family reunion.
Currently the Brick Township Police and the Ocean County Health Department continue to reunite the pets and registered owners.
Aimee Lonczak, 49, and Michele Nycz, 58, are facing charges of animal cruelty and child endangerment after authorities discovered the animals living in crates piled on top of each other. The home was full of animal feces and urine and the dogs and cats were living in horrible and inhumane conditions. At least two of the animals found had already died. The child endangerment charge is related to Lonczak’s 16-year-old daughter who also lived in the home since condemned by the Brick Township Code Department.
The women ran the Crazy Rescue Ladies Inc., representing themselves as animal rescuers.
