Oklahoma City, OK – A dog with a horrific neck injury is embarking on a new life after being rescued from an Oklahoma animal shelter. The dog, dubbed Kova, is now in the care of Bella SPCA, who shared her story on social media on Wednesday afternoon.
The agency shared heartbreak for Kova’s condition, writing:
There are days in rescue that bring even the toughest of us to a dead stop! Today is one of those days. This precious girl came into the OKC Animal Shelter with a horrible wound, that extends the entire circumference of her neck. We don’t know what or how it happened but we do know that from this moment on, her new life has begun.
Complimenting volunteer Whitney Martin Grimes for springing Kova from the shelter and rushing her to the Bella SPCA non-profit veterinary hospital for care. The agency said, “She has to be in so much pain and we are grateful she was found before the bitter temps, that are on their way. Her poor body probably wouldn’t have been able to withstand that wound and the bitter cold.”
Kova will recover, thanks to the kindness of strangers. You can take part in her recovery by helping the non-profit group cover her veterinary costs. You can make a donation at this link.
