The Oklahoma City Animal Welfare is asking for the public’s help with information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person who stuffed a dog into a dog house, sealed the entrance with a wooden board and screws and then dumped the trapped dog. Stand Up for Pits Foundation is offering a $1,000 reward.
Late last week, someone discovered the dog house left in a grassy area near Southwest 5th Street and South May Avenue near the Oklahoma River. Rescuers were then able to pry the screwed-in board off of the entrance to the dog house to free the dog. He was then taken to the Oklahoma City Animal Welfare.
According to Jon Gary, the superintendent at the animal shelter, the dog was extremely malnourished, but even with his harrowing experience, the dog remained very friendly towards people and other dogs at the shelter.
The dog house the pit bull pooch had been sealed in had no food or water and was so small the dog barely had room to even turn around. The damaged wood around the entrance had claw and bite marks – indicating the dog had been desperately trying to escape from the inhumane prison some cruel person obviously inflicted on the innocent pup.
He is now being cared for by Mutt Misfits Animal Rescue Society.
Despite all he’s endured, he is sweet and he is gentle. And he’s now with us where he will get the care and love he so very much deserves.
