In Morgan County, Tennessee the only surviving puppy of an extreme animal cruelty case is making progress and learning to trust humans. The heartbreaking deaths of his five siblings occurred around Christmas after six puppies had been stuffed in a red tote and thrown off the side of a bridge on Burreville Road in Sunbright.
According to the MoCo Mutts Rescue Center, where the puppy, now named Survivor, is recovering, the other puppies “died a horrible, cruel death and for no reason.” Survivor lived after the impact, but suffered a broken leg.
Tyler Underwood, 24, was arrested and now faces six counts of animal cruelty following an investigation from the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office. Underwood allegedly confessed to throwing the puppies off the bridge after telling authorities he tried to get rid of the puppies. but no animal shelters would take them.
Officials had received tips from the public after Morgan County Sheriff’s Office posted the story on their Facebook page.
