The staff at Downey Animal Care Center has issued an urgent plea for help with a seven-month-old French bulldog puppy surrendered to the shelter on January 5, 2023 because his owners are unable to afford the veterinary care needed.
According to the shelter, the puppy named Misi, is a black and brindle puppy weighing 19 pounds. The following is his medical summary:
Misi is an approximately 7-month-old male French bulldog. Misi is having trouble using his hindlimbs. When walking he drags both his hindlimbs which has caused abrasions to the top of his paws. But when standing can stand on his hindlimbs for short periods of time. Misi is currently being sent out for x-rays but the results are pending. Misi will likely need further diagnostic testing with a veterinary hospital after leaving the care center. Misi will likely require intensive nursing care.
Shelter notes
His previous owners have stated they have had the puppy since he was six-weeks-old and given to them as a gift. They also stated the dogs has always been weak in his back legs, but would walk a little while and they would have to rest. About a week ago, he stopped using his back legs. After a visit and examination by their family vet, they were told the puppy would need expensive surgery.
Please share this puppy’s plight with approved rescue organizations. Sharing saves lives.
