In Cincinnati, a man was arrested on Monday, after authorities discovered 40 dead dogs and 80 other malnourished dogs near a home in Pike County.
According to the Pike County Sheriff’s Office, after a complaint had been filed, deputies secured a search warrant and initially discovered a deceased dog tied to a tractor and appearing to have been beaten. And in addition to the dead and emaciated dogs, authorities also found several dead chickens and one live pig.
Wyndan Skye, 62, was arrested and has been charged with cruelty to companion animals. A judge set bail at $40,000 pending a court appearance on February 6, 2023.
Pike Pet Pals were contacted, and along with the Ross County Humane Society and Pike County Humane Agents, the animals were seized and taken to several locations for needed medical care. The rescued dogs ranged from puppies to senior; some of the dogs have presented with untreatable medical conditions while others showed severe aggression and fear.
Our volunteers have worked tirelessly to get supplies, move dogs, run errands, go on food runs, feed dogs, make calls and all the tasks it has taken to get it under control. Our wardens have worked non stop for days.

The dogs are expected to recover, although some have medical issues that can not be helped, however they are settling in. They all have been provided with warm beds, good food and are surrounded by people who are kind and genuinely care. Some of the dogs have become very curious and are beginning to appear at the gates – tails wagging.
As always, our plea is always, help us, help them. Donating money or items is the greatest need. If you see our wardens out and about, please be kind. They have worked so hard to help these dogs. I could not be more proud of them. Thank you to everyone who has tried to reach out. I have been so busy and it has been hard to keep up. Thank you for loving what we do!
