In Arden Hills, Minnesota, a puppy thrown from a truck at 60 miles per hour during a police chase and miraculously found in the woods the next morning, is now on his way to recovery.
According to the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office, on Monday night, deputies were in pursuit of a stolen vehicle when a 911 call reported a person had been shot. The suspected carjackers refused to stop as deputies chased them.
The suspects sped away and started driving the wrong way on Interstate 694. As deputies followed the suspects, the passenger’s side back door quickly opened. A deputy yelled, “Watch for a gun!” and officers quickly positioned themselves and their squad, out of the line of fire.
They noticed a small, white dog had been thrown from the vehicle being pursued at highway speeds on 694.

That’s when the suspects opened the front door of the vehicle and tossed a white object onto the freeway which rolled into the lanes of traffic. The vehicle was finally stopped, and the two suspects fled while two other suspects remained in the vehicle.
After the suspects were captured and arrested, the deputies went out into the area to search for the dog, but could not find any traces of the puppy. Temperatures were less than negative 8 degrees, and so early the next morning at the first sign of daylight, deputies went out again, and this time with the help of drones, had not expected to find the dog alive.
What a heartwarming surprise when they found the puppy! And as the deputies approached him, the puppy happily wagged his tail!
Deputies rushed him to an emergency veterinarian. The puppy, who is less than a year old, had a broken leg and other injuries, but is expected to survive.
And this adorable little pooch has been named Taho, and will remain in the custody of the sheriff’s office. He will be cared for and fostered by one of the employees.
By the way, deputies offered Taho a slice of pizza to help keep him calm after they found him; guessing he really enjoyed it!
The Ramsey County Sheriff’s Foundation is accepting donations to cover medical costs for Taho. Currently, medical costs have totaled $4,500. Ongoing medical costs are estimated to total $7,500. If you’d like to help with Taho’s recovery, please visit www.ramseysheriffsfoundation.org.
Get well soon Taho. There is no doubt that you will have a wonderful and loving future.
