In Jackson County, North Carolina, Mitch waited at Cashiers-Highland Humane Society seven years for a home to call his own – and it happened!
Mitch had been the shelter’s longest resident, and often the shelter would reach out to social media for some help finding Mitch that ever so perfect home.
The Cashiers-Highlands Humane Society is known as the next-best-thing to a forever home. Well, Mitch has enjoyed the next-best-thing for a long time. He deserves the Best Thing – a forever home with a fenced-in yard and a patient and loving human who is kind and gentle. Someone who is stubborn and set in their ways is an added plus
In January 2016, the then six-year-old male Treeing Walker Coonhound mix had been found wandering as a stray in Tuckasegee. He was described as sweet, affectionate and playful. In addition he was already housetrained and loved stuffed toys and his soft, cozy bed. Mitch got along with other dogs and loved every human he met. Yet no one came to adopt him.
Years passed, Mitch got older, but the staff at the shelter always made sure the dog was loved and given lots of attention. Last year, Mitch celebrated his 11th birthday at the shelter with a huge party complete with cakes and hats!
And then … just a few days ago, Mitch’s video appeared on TikTok. He just couldn’t be cuter:
Mitch is our longest term resident, and we’re all hoping this sweet boy finds a warm safe home to spend his senior years in. If you think you might be Mitch’s forever human we hope you give us a call.
TikTok
The TikTok video caught the attention of a couple who knew Mitch would be the perfect dog for them. And in just a few days, Mitch had moved into his “furever” home.
