ADOPTED! Thank you everyone for sharing Beacon’s plight. It worked! Please go to the Walker County Animal Shelter and check out the other pets in need of homes. The shelter is full.
At the Walker County Animal Shelter located in Chickamauga, Georgia, there wasn’t a dry eye at the shelter on Saturday morning watching Beacon stare at the door waiting for his people to return. All he wanted was to see his owner again, and all he wanted to do was to go home.
This is his third time at the shelter. He was just surrendered again. This is him sitting at the intake door, looking for his people.
Moments later, the staff said that Beacon sadly went into panic mode and “pancaked” on the floor in front of the door, as they tried to walk him over to the kennels. No dog wants to live at a shelter, and if they’ve already experienced shelter life for either a short time or an extended stay, they don’t forget the loneliness, the noise and the sadness they feel when they realized their people were no longer coming back to take them home.
Owner’s reason for surrendering Beacon? “irresponsible step son – he needs a good loving home”
According to the shelter team, Beacon is a great dog. The shelter nursed him and his brother back to health after the two were found abandoned at a cemetery. Meanwhile, this sweet dog is only two years of age and has been disappointed so many times by humans, and as much as the kind staff and volunteers at the shelter want to reassure Beacon and spend time with him, there are other duties and other dogs that are also in need.
Beacon needs a committed family. He is up-to-date on his vaccinations, loves other dogs and would love to be loved once again – this time forever. Beacon has also been reported to be good with children. He has not been cat tested.
Beacon’s adoption fee will be waived to the right family. If interested, please contact the shelter by clicking here.
Share this young dog’s plight with friends, family and social media contacts. Let’s help Beacon find a home where he will never have to worry about being returned to the shelter – ever again.
