At the Pennsylvania Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), a five-month-old puppy had been abandoned with a note calling her a “good puppy.”
Cane Corso – pit mastiff. Born 12-15-23. Good Puppy. House Broken. Don’t Have A Name.”
Note left tied to abandoned puppy
The sweet little puppy had been left outside of the organization’s Philadelphia headquarters sometime between Tuesday evening and Wednesday Morning. She had been tied to a pole, and alongside her was the note.
When the staff found her, the puppy appeared healthy but she had a discharge from her eyes that made her look as if she had been crying. Everyone’s heart broke for her; she was terrified.
The staff has named her Minerva, and it is more than likely she has only known one home before she was left alone. So many dogs have been abandoned at shelters lately, and sadly, adoptions have slowed down.
But our work continues. We are here to usher Minerva into the next stage of her life. The era where she will find her forever family, and be loved for the rest of her days.
The organization needs your help. They need it for Minerva and for every dog in their care; including those that will come next.
