In Arleta, California, it had been some very tense moments as a Good Samaritan helped to rescue a dog dodging in and out of traffic on the I-5 Freeway. Multiple drivers had been pulling over trying to rescue the dog.
According to Inside Edition, a nurse, Amber Streid had been among the motorists who had pulled over after spotting the terrified dog running loose amid the traffic. For whatever reason, the dog chose Amber’s car for help when she opened the door. Maybe the dog knew instinctively that Amber is a animal lover and has several rescue pets of her own.
So, with the dog safely in her vehicle, Amber noticed the dog’s feet were bleeding. Amber called a mobile veterinarian to stop by her home and attend to the dog’s injuries
Amber was pretty sure the dog had an owner, but when the vet scanned the pooch for a microchip, nothing showed up. But that is hardly the end of the story. On Monday, the dog named “Pretty” was reunited with her owner.
The dog’s owner, Jay Segura, said they had left Pretty at a relative’s home for the weekend, and the dog likely escaped through a hole in the fence. When the family spotted the news coverage of their dog on the freeway, they were overwhelmed with joy. After Pretty escaped, Segura didn’t know if he would ever see his dog again.
Pretty has been reunited with her family, and although Amber is ecstatic that the dog is home, it seems one of Amber’s dogs took a real liking to Pretty, and the two had become inseparable over the weekend while staying at Amber’s home.
Perhaps, and we all hope there will be some pup playdates in the future and Pretty and Amber’s pooch, Poncho can have some more fun together.
Many thanks to Amber – you are a hero.
