In the San Bernardino area of Southern California, a heartbreaking photo of a tiny dog curled up on a small clump of weeds alongside of a flood canal circulated amid social media this week. Lying near the dog was a small container, most likely the pup’s carrying case lined with a soaked blanket; did someone intentionally abandon this defenseless dog where he could very well have drowned as the canal filled up with rain water?
The indescribable scene quickly drew rescuer Faith Easdale’s attention; many animal advocates had been messaging her also – all asking for help rescuing this little dog before it would be too late.
I was going to find a way. I didn’t care I just was going to figure out how to save him.
Faith on Facebook
Recently Faith had been involved in an auto accident that had damaged the jeep she used, which she used to traverse through rugged areas. With only a rental car and not equipped with the special instruments and animal life-saving apparatus equipment she had access to in the past, Faith’s options have been limited. Nevertheless, she wasn’t giving up and arrived at the location.
Fortunately, Good Samaritans had used a rope and were able to save the dog. Animal Control had arrived, and the lost, scared dog was handed over to them.
Although that may sound like the end of the story, knowing that the tiny dog had been rescued, there was more. Cathi Perez rescued the tiny survivor from the shelter, and the little one is currently safe and getting needed medical care at the organization’s animal hospital affiliate.
And here is another dog thrown away as if was trash being given a second chance because people really do care.
To help:
And he’s tucked in safe and warm at out hospital we are so grateful this little guy gets a second chance.
Correction on Saturday afternoon (via Cathi and Faith)
Please note that the above dog pictured with Cathi is not the dog rescued from the flood canal, however the shelter is so crowded, we are pleased to inform everyone this little pup is an “extra” rescue. Here is the dog from the canal, and now he is safe too!
