Sammy deserves better. For more than a month, Sammy spent his time patiently waiting at the City of San Bernardino Animal Services for a family to adopt him. When his new family arrived, Sammy wagged his tail, jumped for joy and couldn’t wait to get to know everyone. Oh boy! What fun it would be to play with children and go on new adventures. That feeling, however only lasted one day. Sammy is back in his kennel and back at the shelter.

SAMMY – ID#A552071
My name is Sammy and I am an unaltered male, white and black Siberian Husky. Shelter staff think I am about 2 years and 2 months old.
And why was Sammy returned after just one day? Wouldn’t it all have been logical the would be adopters would have brought their children to the shelter to meet the dog first? Wouldn’t it have just been common sense to judge the size of the dog before making a decision to adopt him? Wouldn’t it have been in Sammy’s best interest not to put him through the stress?
And these are the reasons Sammy lost:
He’s such a great dog. I wish we could have kept him. They [children] never had a dog before and a big dog scared them.

And it didn’t matter how friendly or loveable Sammy was – he was rejected because of his size, but wasn’t he the same size yesterday before the family left the shelter? It’s likely Sammy just doesn’t understand that he did nothing wrong, but there he sits – waiting patiently in his kennel cage, surely wondering why he’s there again.
Please share Sammy’s plight with approved rescue organizations, friends, family and social media contacts. Sharing saves lives. For more information on this beautiful young dog call:
