What kind of heartless person could dump a dog on the side of a rural country road in Dallas and then look in his rearview mirror to see the panicky dog chasing after his owner’s vehicle?
Surveillance video captured the heartbreaking moments when a man was seen in a white Chevrolet SUV on Wednesday about 6:45 p.m. pull over on the side of Dowdy Ferry Road and Teagarden Road, open the back hatch of the vehicle and pull his dog out of the vehicle. A concerned citizen from across the street could be heard yelling at the man as the evil owner dumped his dog, hurried back into the driver’s seat and took off. Even more heartbreaking was the loyal pup trying to chase after his owner as if to say – “hey wait a minute, you forgot me!”
The poor pup barked at his owner as he left and nearly was hit by another oncoming vehicle chasing the SUV down the road.
According to WFAA, the entire disturbing situation was captured by cameras installed by the Dowdy Ferry Animal Commissioners, and had been strategically placed for cruel violations just like this one. The Dallas Police are now looking for the person in the video.
It makes me sick to my stomach when I see people that will take the time to take their dog, drive out here, and throw it out like trash like Dowdy Ferry is known for.
Jeremy Boss as told to WFAA
Dallas Animal Services were able to rescue the dog that same evening. The dog has a leg injury, but other than that he is in good condition. In Texas, dumping an animal is a Class A misdemeanor.
Police are asking anyone who can help identify the suspect(s) in the latest animal dumping cases at Dowdy Ferry and Teagarden Road to call the Dallas Police Animal Cruelty Division at 469-504-3394.
