In celebration of Mother’s Day 2024, we could not let the stories of two incredibly heartwarming tales of canine maternal love and compassion not be shared.
As told by the rescue Rescued Pets Movement, based in Houston, Texas, we were introduced to a dog named Mama Ruth. When she arrived at BARC shelter, she only had one surviving puppy, but fate soon intervened when 10 tiny newborn orphaned puppies were brought into the shelter in desperate need of a mother’s care. And without missing a doggie paw beat, Mama Ruth embraced four of the newborns, cared for them as her own and not only saved the lives of the puppies, but also saved her own life, because she had been on the euthanasia list at the shelter.
Her act of kindness granted her another day, allowing us precious time to rescue this angel and her newfound family.
Rescued Pets Movement
Are you ready for one more incredibly heart filled story of love and rescue? Are you ready to learn how the other six puppies found love and the care they needed? Meet sweet Simone who arrived at BARC with swollen milk glands and a heart longing for her lost babies. And that’s when the six remaining newborns were turned over to her. Yes, sweet Simone opened her heart and embraced the puppies as if they have been her own.
These remarkable stories stand as a testament to the unwavering love of mothers, both human and animal alike, and the incredible resilience that defines the bond between them. In their acts of love and sacrifice, Mama Ruth and Simone have touched our hearts and reminded us of the extraordinary capacity for compassion within us all
Rescued Pets Movement
Each week, Rescued Pets Movement saves hundreds of animals from area shelters, often from the euthansia list and has saved nearly 87,000 lives since 2013. With your help, RPM makes new beginnings possible for homeless pets throughout Houston and surrounding areas.
The Greater Houston Metropolitan area has a very high number of homeless pets needing homes. Sadly, there just are not enough homes here for all of the homeless animals in need. We rescue Houston’s homeless animals from the shelters here and send them to other parts of the US where there are lots of people wanting to adopt homeless animals like the ones we have right here in Houston. And it works!
