UPDATE: Tulpa gets new life along with his kennel pals because ‘everyone came to help’ urgent plea

Admin

Tulpa was slated to be humanely euthanized because no one came to the shelter in Polk County, Georgia to adopt him. The young Labrador retriever mix had been surrendered on March 17, and since then no one had come to the rural shelter to even ask about him.

And it had been on Thursday afternoon that local volunteer Shannon, took the anxious and exuberant pup outside for some much needed exercise and companionship. And it had been on Thursday afternoon that Shannon told us today was to be Tulpa’s last roll in the grass and his last afternoon nibbling on treats.

TULPA’S LAST DAY… TODAY I TOOK THIS SWEETIE OUTSIDE TO LET HIM GET AWAY FROM THE SHELTER STRESS IN HIS KENNEL HE OFTEN HIDES IN THE CORNER SO HE WAS THANKFUL TO FEEL THE SUNSHINE. HE ROLLED IN THE GRASS AND HAD TREATS

And it wasn’t just Tulpa who was slated to be die at the small, open intake shelter; there isn’t much hope for dogs and cats who have been surrendered or found as strays. Most depend on the volunteers and social media to help them find homes. Tulpa’s shelter pals Betty and Kilo were also listed to be euthanized.

A short time later, animal supporters, friends, rescuers and journalists reached out over social media and shared Tulpa’s story. It had been a “village of caring people in this world” who stepped forward and worked tirelessly to save these neglected and discarded dogs. It’s the volunteers who shared the dogs’ plights, hoping someone would have a connection to one of these perfect pups – who just needed a break.

Late into Thursday night and early on Friday morning, Shannon never gave up. And thanks to Renegade Rescue Georgia, not only does Tulpa get to wake up to play in the sun today, but her shelter pals Betty and Kilo have taken their freedom walks also.
