Police arrest woman accused of abandoning and tying dog to tree with tree branch so he could not move

In South Windsor, Connecticut, a woman faces animal cruelty charges abandoning a dog after tying him to a tree and using a dog branch pushed into his collar so he could not move.

According to the Tyler Regional Animal Care Center, Janiya Bradford, 26, was arrested on Thursday. The charges stemmed from an incident on April 22 when it has been alleged she abandoned her dog off a walking path, securing his collar with a tree branch at the Niederwerfer Wildlife Sanctuary so he couldn’t move and walked away.

Officers responded to a report from a Good Samaritan who came upon the barking dog while she had been walking her own dog. Cameras in the park did not cover that area, and authorities asked for the public’s assistance.

Please look at the collar that was left on him with the name ‘Kobe.” Maybe your neighbor had a dog matchig this description that is no longer there, or you heard someone talking about leaving this sweet boy.

And it was on Friday morning that an arrest was made, and thanks to authorities and social media, Kobe may soon find some justice.

Check out the adorable photos of Kobe and how he is making progress and feeling much more comfortable and loved. He has been gaining weight, his eye infections have healed, and staff members are teaching him canine manners and personal space. He loves attention, and although he is still unsure of men, he’s slowly coming around.

He’s not available for adoption yet, but as soon as he is, we will let everyone know.

As for Bradford, she has been released on $5,000 non-surely bond and is scheduled to appear in court on June 5.
