How does a perfect, friendly pup wind up back at the crowded Carson Animal Care Center again? Way back in September 2022, Jack, a two-year-old male German shepherd entered the shelter as a stray. He spent weeks there, and finally a family arrived, and Jack was adopted. From that moment on, shouldn’t Jack have been living happily ever after?
Apparently, Jack needs help finding a new home; this time it is hoped his family will keep a careful eye on their delightful pup. He was found as a stray again in January 2023, and his family never came back for him. Now his life is in danger. Can you help?

Here’s how Jack was described by the staff and volunteers:
1/19/23 – A5501720(altered) Jack:
Jack was exchanging barks with his neighbor as the runner approached. Jack noticed the runner and greeted the runner sniffing and licking her hand. Jack displayed a relaxed body, relaxed tail with a soft wag, open mouth pant, and soft eyes.
Jack was easily leashed and removed from the kennel. Jack walked ahead of the runner with a moderate pull on the leash bypassing the dogs along the way.
Once in the catch pen Jack was easily collared and leashed soliciting petting during the process. Jack gave a timid greet at the barrier and was allowed into the yard. Once in the yard Jack was overwhelmed at first scurrying away from the dogs.
Jack remained on the periphery of the dogs at play appearing interested in their play. Little by little Jack began to engage and join in the play. Jack began to become more confident and engaged in push pull play and would run about the yard and play chase. Jack would also approach the handlers and solicit petting before heading back to play.
Jack is already neutered and ready to go home today with a loving family. Sadly, he has been at the overcrowded shelter too long. Please share his story with approved rescue organizations, friends, family and social media contacts. Sharing saves lives.
Jack is available for public adoption – older children would be best since Jack is so active and big dogs (he gets along with other dogs fine) in the family would work best.
